Armed bandits launched a deadly ambush in Zamfara, resulting in the deaths of 10 security personnel from community protection groups in the Bagega area of Anka Local Government. Three guards have been reported missing, and several others sustained various degrees of injury in the attack.

The assault took place on Saturday night during a joint operation involving the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards and local vigilante groups. The security personnel were returning from a successful raid on bandit hideouts in the Sukai forest when they were ambushed by the attackers.

The victims included six members of the Community Protection Guards and four members of the local vigilante group, Yan Sakai. Two members of the protection guards and one local vigilante remain unaccounted for.

Governor Dauda Lawal confirmed the tragic incident on his official Facebook page, stating that the operation had led to the deaths of numerous bandits and the seizure of substantial weaponry.

In light of the attack, Governor Lawal announced the deployment of additional military forces to the affected areas and the provision of emergency assistance to those injured and the families of the deceased.
