Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to partnering with the Federal Government to drive socio-economic growth in the state. Speaking at the inauguration of the reconstructed 9.6km Abraka-Oben Road, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state and federal governments to achieve meaningful development.
He commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for initiating the road reconstruction project and urged the commission to extend the project to Benin. Oborevwori also acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu, saying that his administration believes in the success of the federal government, which will, in turn, translate to the success of the states.
The governor also addressed comments made by a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, highlighting the state government's interventions on federal roads, including the Benin-Warri Road and the Ughelli-Asaba dualization project. Oborevwori noted that his administration has been recognized for its infrastructure development efforts, earning him the Governor of the Year (Infrastructure) award from THISDAY/ARISE News and New Telegraph Newspaper.
Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, and Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Chiedu Ebie, also commended Oborevwori's administration for its development efforts, urging governors to view interventionist agencies as partners rather than competitors.
