INEC Schedules 2026 Governorship Elections for Ekiti and Osun States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the dates for the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.

According to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Ekiti State governorship election has been slated for Saturday, July 20, 2026, while the Osun State election will follow on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Prof. Yakubu made this disclosure on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), whose appointments were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.

Further details regarding the elections are expected to be released by the Commission in due course.
