KATSINA STATE POLICE CONFIRM ABDUCTION OF FOUR FEDERAL UNIVERSITY DUTSINMA STUDENTS

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four students from Federal University Dutsinma by bandits on Sunday morning. According to DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Public Relations Officer, one of the kidnapped students has been rescued thanks to the relentless efforts of security operatives in the area.

The abduction occurred at the Paris Quarters, a student residential area behind the university building, at around 2:20 am on Sunday. A large group of bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the quarters and took the students away.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bandits, who were in their large numbers, invaded the student's quarters, shooting sporadically into the air to scare away any potential resistance. The students, who were caught off guard, were quickly rounded up and taken away by the bandits.

Security operatives were quickly deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call, but the bandits had already escaped into the bush. The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have launched a manhunt for the bandits and are working tirelessly to rescue the remaining three students.

According to DSP Sadiq, the police are doing everything possible to ensure the safe release of the students. "We are working closely with other security agencies and local vigilantes to track down the bandits and rescue the students," he said.

The Dutsinma local government area, where the university is located, is a hotspot for banditry and other crimes, despite efforts by the state and federal governments to restore peace in the area. The abduction of the students has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for increased security measures to protect students and residents.

The Federal University Dutsinma has also issued a statement condemning the abduction and calling for the safe release of the students. The university authorities have assured that they are working closely with the security agencies to ensure the students' safe return.

The abduction of the students has once again highlighted the security challenges facing the country, particularly in the northern region. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of students in universities located in areas prone to banditry and other crimes.

As the search for the missing students continues, the police have urged residents to remain calm and to provide any information that may lead to the rescue of the students.
